Glossary

Still Life Still life is generally defined as the representation of inanimate or motionless objects arranged in an aesthetic manner.

Famous painters who shaped the still life genre: Jacob Van Es (1596-1666), Paul Cézanne (1839-1906), Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947), David Hockney (*1937).

Landscape painting “Landscape painting – like still life – is a genre of representational painting. It includes the pictorial artistic reproduction, the man surrounding untouched or also influenced by him nature.

For me, the Impressionists are a great source of inspiration. It’s about light and shadow, painting in the great outdoors. Again, I have to quote David Hockney. Also the landscape painting scene in the USA from the 19th and 20th century is very inspiring.
